who wears the socks? _ paintings by ali cavanaugh

i like these paintings.

ali cavanaugh is really well-known by now.
and she's true inspiration as well, considering that she had lost her hearing
at the tender age of two, which she now considers a blessing in disguise,
as it made her be more sensitive to the visual world.

what i also like is her technique.  she works in a kind of a
fresco technique, with watercolor on a wet plaster surface. she has to use
tiny strokes, like the ones you can see on egg tempera paintings
from gothic times. i like the effect.

do click images for actual size.
