note to self

"to know what you're going to draw, you have to begin drawing."
– picasso

This quote resounded in my mind as I took a bath to
think about what exactly my line of work should be.

Found some time ago on brainpickings.

words _ on fear

fear is such an insidious little thing.
it keeps you in bondage when
all you want is fly.

but once you realize that there's
essentially nothing you can loose,
you can become fearless
and free.

kind of what i'm working on now.
(as always have been.)

words _ my brain

when i found this image on pinterest
(lettering by a pair of pears), i had this unstoppable
urge to make a screenshot of my laptop with loads
of tabs open in my browser.

so i did make a screenshot. there you go:

and i guess what you see on my screen
is very much representative of my mind too.

i think i got way too many things on my mind
and by now i simply can't stop.

btw, you can follow me on pinterest, too!
and just see my rambling mind there.

words on design _ on being revolutionary

words from american architect denise scott brown (b. 1931, Rhodesia).
here you can read a recent interview with her.

find more quotes on design (well, architecture) on ilikearchitecture.

basically, the idea is that with everyone trying to be revolutionary,
you will be most revolutionary if you try to be ordinary.

just another note to self _ on mediocrity

i'm always afraid of mediocrity,
which many a time leads to my
not making anything.

but yes, we all need to understand
that mediocrity is almost always
an unavoidable stage
that we need to get through.

what's your point of view?

and i quote _ from paul rand

a really good quote from paul rand.

it's not that one should copy other people's stuff,
but much rather that one should
simply do their stuff without the concerns
of creating something truly original, something
groundbreaking, something that hasn't been
seen before.

on the other hand, when you do
your work, possibly every day,
then, i think that after a good while
you are bound to create original,
maybe even groundbreaking stuff
that hasn't been seen before...

what's your point on this?
