at first glance i really thought these were nicely styled photos with beautiful colors.
and i liked them.
then i got to know they were paintings.
i find them amazing! and i find them amazing
despite the fact that i'm not the biggest fan of photorealist painting.
what do you think?

really paingings??? unbelievably! I like it=)
ReplyDeleteThey ARE amazing! Emotionally and visually I'm drawn most to abstract (expressionist) work, and very rarely 'feel' something for such photorealism (maybe except for some of Richter's work). However, these do speak to me somehow. Especially the first two.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! One of the things I really like about your blog is how it makes me question the boundaries of (my) taste.

Thanks, girls! :)
ReplyDeleteE., Glad to hear you kinda feel the same as me. :) And thanks for the sweet words about my blog... as for me, i'm afraid my taste has no boundaries whatsoever... i have just recently been thinking about that, and my conclusion was that maybe my one and only criterion is just quality... not sure tho. :D

Are you kidding??? You would never know that - they are brill loving them.

Aaah but WHAT is quality, Agnes? How do you define it? How do you recognize it? :-) If you haven't read it, read 'Zen, or the art of Motorcycle maintenance'. The main character goes (temporarily) insance trying to define what quality is.

I can't believe these are paintings and I think the reason they are so alluring is they are very well styled and feature items a lot of us covet (vintage books? Yes, please).
ReplyDeleteGreat find!
xx,
Miss B.
:) :) :)
ReplyDeleteE., well, yeah... good question... it must have degrees... i think i can only feel it... :) :) but i'm not infallible... :)
i have the book somewhere, maybe at home at my parents', but haven't read it... i might!
Miss B., yes, it's a good trick that the subjects are so simple and mundane but covetable themselves. :)

well, the question of course raises a hundred more, none of which i could answer. :D and eventually i would go insane... so i'll rather just feel. :D :D correctly or incorrectly... the way i can... maybe that's the only thing i can do... and trust myself, of course, which is not easy (cuz i tend to question myself at every step and turn) but it's the only way to go.
ReplyDelete:) :)
